Reach for the Light

Description

So this artwork has a lot of meaning in it, and I worked super hard on this. This is most likely one of the most personal things that I have drawn, and I am already weepy about it. So one of my friends :iconmisskeylara: is going through a rough time right now. I will not say until that she is ready to talk about it, but I felt like that she needed something to lift up her spirits. She was talking about how she felt the darkness in her closing in, but I told her that she needed to reach for light and not to let it go--and once she would find the light, it would stay with her. I drew her in Princess Serenity's dress from Sailor Moon, since she is a Moonie like me, and put angel wings flying on her back--as if she was reaching for the light up the sky. But, this mainly was to show her that I support her either way--whatever happens that I was there for her to give her light back into her life since she is one of my best friends. For the concept, I heard a song on my iPod from one of my favorite movies, Balto. I know it is a soundtrack song, but it relates to reaching for the light. Conviently, the song is named Reach for the Light by Steve Winwood. I am here for you Alli! :huggle:

This piece is over all pretty good. The detail on the clothing, hand, and wings are amazing, and the hand reaching out to the viewer is rather pleasing to the eye.

What I believe you should color a bit neater, try to get rid of all white spots. The shoulders seem a bit high up, try giving her a longer neck. And why are there red finger nails on the extended hand but unpainted nails on the other?

To be completely honest, this is a good piece, but there are a few things you need to practice on. But anyone can get better if they try!
